KFUM UMEÅ BSKT was formed in 2014 in February and sprung from the cooperative association KFUM Umeå, with its 1700 members and 40 full-time employees. Umeå BSKT, a not-for-profit association, shares offices with YMCA Umeå, which is Sweden's third largest YMCA association, and they have a close collaboration in youth, elite and development issues. It was when the YMCA Umeå team in May 2012 took the step up to Basketetta. And two years later, they took the next step to Sweden's highest series Basketligan Herr. A series where only one Umeå team (Umeå Nordics 1998-99) played before. The home arena is Umeå Energi Arena.
